BUILDING BEAUTY

Inspired by the beauty and the natural qualities of terracotta for more than 150 years, TERREAL has become a key player in building materials. Our range of tile options includes single walled tiles, double walled tiles, acoustic tiles, different surface finishes, corner options and more. The unique finishes allow the possibility to create tiles in any RAL colour and to apply logos onto the surface. We are even able to work with 3-D shapes in the facing of the tile.

TIMELESS MODERNITY OF AN AGE OLD MATERIAL

Since ancient times, clay has been used for decoration, protection and appeal. Today, it takes new shapes that add style to your architectural designs. Terracotta is a material with cutting-edge production techniques and industry leading performance in all requirements: manufacturing consistency, numerous colour variations, product customization, ease of installation, versatility, insulation performance and environmental responsiveness.

BUILT TO SURVIVE AND TO THRIVE

The substructure is designed to cope with New Zealand’s high wind and high humidity conditions, with either an EPDM dryseal or negative detail in the vertical joint, a minimum 50mm wide cavity and horizontal shiplapped tiles.  The systems have been tested against wind pressures of up to 2.9 kPa (Blizzard tile).  The bracket system used is illustrated under T50 support structure.  As the tiles are hanging onto proprietary clips, the system does not create stress on the tiles but offers great seismic resistance (check out the amazing video below

While other materials may challenge Terracotta in some of these fields, few achieve all of the following qualities:

  • Modern yet Authentic
  • Environmentally Friendly and 100% Natural
  • Fire and Impact Resistant
  • Living
  • Durable, Perennial and Recyclable
  • Low Thermal Conductivity
  • Architectural and Creative
  • Warm and Light

Reducing impact on the environment

Every TERREAL site measures and regularly declares all its impacts, and implements optimization measures: limiting dust emissions, flue gas purification, recycling industrial waste. Before beginning to exploit its quarries, TERREAL conducts an initial examination of the fauna and flora, establishes a biodiversity conservation plan and then afterwards rehabilitates the area: reforestation, re-cultivation, creating an area of water, etc.

Their quarry operating plans include:

  • Conducting an initial inventory of the fauna and flora
  • All the measures for preserving biodiversity
  • Mapping the presence of species and their photos.
  • Prior to the operation, the rehabilitation of quarries (methods and phasing) is clearly defined.
  • Operating phases are coordinated with the redevelopment of quarries to minimize the area impacted by the extraction as much as possible.
  • At the end of production, the land is generally returned to its original use (reforestation, returned to crops, etc.). The order may, where appropriate, include the creation of a body of water.
